I LOVE a glass of cool, fruity sangria, especially on holiday! I've had my fair share of amazing versions and a few not so great too. Having made both red sangria and white peach sangria for our recent joint 40th birthday/10th anniversary Fiesta garden party, I played around with a few ideas and came up with my own recipes...
Red Sangria Recipe
Ingredients:
1 bottle Spanish red wine (we used Garnacha)
200ml orange juice
100ml brandy
1 lemon, sliced (halves)
1 lemon, juiced
1 orange, sliced (quarters)
2 pears, chopped
50g granulated sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
300ml lemonade
Method:
Pour the red wine, orange juice and brandy into a large jug, cover and place in the fridge.
In a bowl, sprinkle the sugar & cinnamon over the chopped/sliced fruits, add the lemon juice and stir. Cover and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
Add the fruit to the liquid in the jug and leave in the fridge if making ahead.
When ready to serve, add the lemonade and ice.
White Sangria Recipe
Ingredients:
1 bottle white wine (we used Pinot Grigio)
2 peaches, sliced into thin segments
300g cherries, halved
100ml sugar syrup
200ml peach schnapps
1 bottle prosecco
Method:
Add all the fruit and white wine to a large jug, mix in the sugar syrup and peach schnapps.
Place in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight.
When ready to serve, half-fill glasses with the wine mixture and top up with prosecco OR add the prosecco to the jug and stir gently before serving.
They both went down VERY well at the party! :-P Sorry for the rubbish pictures, I was busy having fun but will recreate these soon for a photo sesh!
