I was back at The Hurstwood this week for their seasonal shoot to show off their beautiful Christmas decor and new menu. I love their stylish decorations all dotted around the ceiling including the upside down Christmas trees, Martin explained the history behind this tradition which dates back to the middle ages in Europe when there was little floor space and lots of animals around, they hung their trees from the ceiling instead which also represented Trinity. He said they would suspend it over a table and stuff the branches with presents they could all pull down as they sat around for Christmas dinner.
The whole place looks so cosy, especially with the fire going! I just love it there :)
As for the food, well, I think the photos speak for themselves - the dishes are always so beautifully presented and thought out and I can assure you the flavours match! They have a whole host of new wines in the cellar too, some of which I sampled at their recent Guest Chef tasting menu event!
If you've read about my new lifestyle change, you'll understand what torture this was for me yesterday - shooting the seasonal new menu at The Hurstwood comes with great perks - getting to eat the food afterwards! I stuck to tiny tastes and can vouch for the yumminess of everything I tried! They have the traditional turkey dinner but it's definitely more special than on your usual Christmas menu! The pork belly was pretty awesome too and the brownie and the chicken livers in the most amazing creamy bacon froth, yum!
The Christmas menu costs £28.50 for two courses or £35 for 3...
Luckily I have friends visiting this weekend so I'm having a night off plan food and will be indulging in dinner at The Hurstwood with them. I can't wait!
